Try to focus on the different parts of the conclusion. Which sentence provides a link to the previous paragraph? Which sentences refer back to the original idea? Which sentences refer back to the thesis statement? Which sentence(s) express the writer's opinion/main argument? Which sentence(s) refer to future research or ideas which relate to how things may change in the future?
This is a weak conclusion because it is vague, lacks detail and lacks an obvious link to the original question and/or thesis statement. Additionally, the writer introduces new ideas, such as that of harsh punishment being the answer to the problem.

In conclusion, it seems as though China's economic growth is having a detrimental effect on her environment. Whilst the 'Free Market' solution has proved to be effective in terms of raising the living standards of most people, it can be argued that it has brought with it a whole host of problems which were not present before the rapid economic expansion began. However, the 'free market solution' plan is incomplete. That is, it has overlooked the provision of punitive measures against people who fail to keep within the emission limit. Additionally, it may lead to the existence of a monopoly at this stage. Thus, the Chinese government should consider whether the benefits of this plan outweigh the inevitable drawbacks.
This is a strong conclusion because the writer addresses the main idea from the title, that of students being ignorant of acceptable academic practice. They also manage to summarise the supporting arguments they used to verify such a claim. In addition, the writer manages to address the second part of the questions and make final suggestions as to a solution.
This is a weak conclusion for two reasons. Firstly, the writer is discussing a topic different to that given in the title. As a result, the writer fails to draw a logical conclusion which summarises the main idea of the essay. Whilst it is likely that the whole essay has been written with a focus on international students as opposed to all students, the conclusion would still be considered as weak due to its lack of focus on the question. Secondly, the writer fails to comment on the main idea as stated in the title, that plagiarism is a result of ignorance of academic convention. Rather they comment on several other reasons, such as linguistics problems and cultural differences.
B. How to Write a Conclusion. In much the same way that the introduction lays out the thesis for the reader, the conclusion of the paper should reiterate the main points—it should never introduce new ideas or things not discussed in the body of the paper!—and bring the argument home. The force with which you express the theme here is especially important, because if you're ever going to convince the reader that your thesis has merit, it will be in the conclusion. In other words, just as lawyers win their cases in the closing argument, this is the point where you'll persuade others to adopt your thesis.
Before you move on to , you should take a break. Let your draft sit for a day or two. You need to distance yourself from the piece so you can gain objectivity. If there is anything more difficult than trying to edit your own work, it is trying to edit your own work right after you have written it. Once you have let your work sit for a while, you will be better able to tackle the final steps of editing and revising.

In some essays, the writer takes an exploratory approach, perhaps dealing with a variety of proposals and solutions. The conclusion states the thesis almost as if it is a discovery, allowing the reader to make the discovery along with you. However, this can be a difficult technique to carry off. The thesis, even though it may go unstated until the very end, should nevertheless serve as the inevitable controlling force for the entire essay.
Especially useful in a persuasive or argumentative essay, in this type of conclusion the writer makes a proposal and/or asks the readers to do something, calling them to action. It is frequently seen in sermons and political speeches.

A. How to Write an Introduction. The introduction of a persuasive essay or paper must be substantial. Having finished it, the reader ought to have a very clear idea of the author's purpose in writing. To wit, after reading the introduction, I tend to stop and ask myself where I think the rest of the paper is headed, what the individual paragraphs in its body will address and what the general nature of the conclusion will be. If I'm right, it's because the introduction has laid out in clear and detailed fashion the theme and the general facts which the author will use to support it.
